The Rawls College of Business formed its first advisory council in 2001-02. The members serve a three-year term and pay annual dues, which fund student scholarships, faculty research, and any special projects the group may develop. The Council members learn about the college’s goals and programs, and can turn to faculty for expertise and executive education programs. Administrators and faculty gain valuable input from Council members on current business trends, and students benefit from Council members who serve as guest presenters in classes and who support the students with internships and job opportunities.
The Council members represent family-owned operations, large corporations, and entrepreneurial endeavors in many industries, including accounting, banking, e-commerce, construction, energy, investment, retail, real estate development, telecommunications, and venture capitalism. At this time, most of the members are Texas Tech graduates, but with time, non-Tech executives will widen perspective for the group.
